Caring For Horses
Caring for miniature horses is't "mini" when compared to full sized horses. Care includes feeding, watering, vet care, cleaning, hygine care, and lots of love and attention! It takes approximatly 3 hours a day to properly run and upkeep Swift Cloud Farm. Daily work in the farm is to be completed each morning and evening to make sure the horses get to go outside, eat, and come in for bed each night. Each stall must be cleaned of debris every day to ensure the health of the horses. Property care includes the checking of fences, upkeeping the barn, and mowing the grass. Hay deliveries are a days worth of work- hay must be stored in a cool and dry space. Chickens need to be fed each day and eggs collected at least once a week depending on the hens' age. Swift Cloud Farm can leave the workers tired, but with the feeling of a jobs work well done in the view of the amazingly beautiful animals that depend on them.
About The Horses
The miniature horses that call Swift Cloud Farm all come from a long line of generations. There are a dozen mini horses currently living on Swift Cloud Farm and each spring at least one is born. The mini horses here are often bread off of the farm and the stallion living on the farm has been sent out across state for breeding purposes. The babies are kept with their mothers until they mature and can often be found playing in the fields!
The Business Behind Swift Cloud Farm
Running a working Farm isn't an easy feat. Costs include electricity, food, labor, water, rent or mortgage, vet bills, and the costs for up keeping the property. The beauty of miniature horses is the breeding! Breeding can bring money into the business not unlike breeding dags. Swift Cloud Farm focuses their business around the health and well being of the current horses on set. New babies born and the studding of other farms' female horses help to balance the extinsive costs of running and upkeeping the farm.
